The Automation Manager stewards the automation budget, automation schedule, and the linkage of automation deliverables into the overall project schedule.  Previous project management (automation/controls component) of large scale capital projects is preferred.

The Automation manager provides oversight and assurance to project specifications as an embedded company owner in the EPCm’s design and construction teams. They are responsible to communicate with the Leadership team and the Automation Leadership team on automation status, risks, milestone accomplishments, shared learning’s and deviations to specifications.

The Automation manager works closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams during commissioning playing an active role in the commissioning and start-up of key elements of the automation scope.

Key Accountabilities

The accountabilities and results are measured by the agreed goals associated to safety, cost, schedule and operational efficiency for the automation components of the project. The following are the “primary” accountabilities for the role of the automation manager:

Works safe and promotes a safe work environment at all times.

Delivers a Basic Process Control System including 3rd party that supports operations and process requirements each complying with project specification, or approved deviation.

Delivers a Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and required documentation that complies with project specifications.


Supports construction activities to deliver the automation scope which includes providing oversight of Engineering and Construction contractor on installation, schedule, costs, QA/QC, point checks, functional testing and documentation deliverables.


Works closely with others to monitor QA/QC of automation systems including preservation.

Experience

The Project Manager III is responsible for managing small to large projects that very often include third party on-site contractors: project size generally less $5MM and a project portfolio less than $15MM on average at any given time.

  

Responsibilities:

Overview:

The Remote Automation Solutions (RAS) Field Service Technician will work as field service representative to install and maintain equipment and systems at the customer's worksite.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Company and its Principals to our customer in a positive and proactive manner, ensuring that the products and services delivered by the Company perform to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Install, calibrate, test, inspect, repair, and maintain flow computers and associated instruments for purposes of flow measurement in the oil, natural gas, chemical and refining process industries.
  • Install, calibrate, test, inspect, repair, and maintain telemetry systems associated with SCADA host systems in the oil, natural gas, chemical and refining process industries.
  • Be familiar with the operation and installation of various ‘associated instrumentation’ including but not limited to both electronic and pneumatic pressure switches, pressure and flow transducers, valves, actuators, gas monitors, flow meters, radar and mechanical level transmitters.
  • Technicians work with little supervision and therefore must be able to solve problems with little or no outside input.
  • Job planning is critical to success in the field. Technicians have to anticipate problems that might arise & plan for them before leaving for the job site.
  • Respond to calls 24/7 for emergency response by phone or onsite call-out as appropriate and requested.
  • As directed in an assigned field service call-out provide training to the customer's employees and advise them of proper procedures to use flow computers and associated instrumentation.
  • Operate calculators, computers, complex electronic and mechanical instruments, testing and calibration devices, as well as manual and motorized tools.
  • Prepare written reports that document the location, duration, job activities and customer satisfaction of assigned field service call-outs. Assist Field Service Co-coordinators in gathering all pertinent information in support of field service billing and repair processing.
  • Maintain personal scheduling calendar in MS Outlook current and apprise the Service Coordinators and or Field Service Manager of significant changes in schedule or call-out availability.
  • Be actively involved in the Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs as directed by Company and customers.
  • Observe and comply with ALL safety, regulatory, and statutory legal requirements.
  • Maintain and continuously develop skills and knowledge on about new equipment and technical trends in electronic, communication and automation systems and equipment.

Knowledge/Education: 

This job position requires a minimum of an Associate of Arts or Science degree in engineering, electronics or instrumentation technology. Course work must include theory and hands-on laboratory skills with electronics, electrical circuitry and micro processing computers.

 

 Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a similar field service position performing similar tasks on flow computers, telemetry, analyzers and PLC’s.
  • Must have training and direct hands-on experience installing, calibrating and troubleshooting flow computers and associated instrumentation, including: pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
  • Must have computer skills, specifically the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and have the ability to learn to use proprietary databases.
  • Additional experience working on other types of industrial electrical and electronic equipment including but not limited to motors, valves, actuators, meters, and analyzers is preferred and if necessary will be developed through formal training and hands-on work.
  • Must understand and be able to apply fundamental electronics and communications theory.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary since reports and verbal explanations are usually part of the job.
  • The job also requires good manual dexterity, good vision, and color perception.
