LEAD ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER 

NEAR NEW ORLEANS, LA


This position is responsible for supporting a continuous manufacturing facility by applying instrumentation and electrical technical expertise.  Primarily the role involves leading the instrumentation/electrical function on projects.  Responsibilities also include other forms of manufacturing support such as performing troubleshooting, and participating on audits and alarm management activities.

Project responsibilities include:
Serving as the Lead I&E Discipline Engineer working with other involved disciplines
Generating scopes-of-work
Performing technology selection and equipment sizing
Generating equipment specifications
Evaluate equipment bids
Participation in vendor acceptance tests
Working with electrical designers to develop I&E deliverables such as diagrams and schematics
Performing design reviews to ensure technical adequacy and adherence to applicable corporate/industry standards, regulations, etc.
Supporting commissioning and start-up

Instrumentation within the scope of responsibility includes:
Pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters
Actuated valves
Analyzers
Interface with:  
Distributed Control Systems
Safety Instrumented Systems
Programmable Logic Controllers
Burner Management Systems

Electrical equipment within the scope of responsibility includes:
Motors
Adjustable Speed Drives
Motor Control Centers
Protective Relays
Transformers
Heating
Lighting

Educational Qualifications: 
BS in Electrical Engineering.  Candidate with an equivalent degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering who have demonstrated instrumentation engineering proficiency and who meet the remaining skills/experience requirements will also be considered.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Chemical Process or related industries with the working knowledge of instruments and electrical equipment
Have a broad knowledge of industry standards including NEC, ISA, API, IEEE, NFPA, IEC
Knowledge of plant operational practices such as Process Safety Management including PHAs and LOPAs
Excellent time management skills and the ability to plan, prioritize, and implement multiple concurrent projects or activities
Demonstrated ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and able to function in a team environment or independently
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals at different levels of the organization from corporate consultants to the shop floor.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
