Our client, a global biotherapeutics company is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer (Utilities) due to a $3B expansion. Nice rural location with good schools/communities/low cost of living, approximately an hour from downtown Chicago. This position will provide technical leadership in controls / automation for site utilities support.
• Independently develop and deploy solutions through established technically competency • Have and demonstrate skills in requirements gathering, design, configuration, integration of, PLC systems, HMI packages, SCADA systems, Visual Basic and PC networking technology. • Design automation and electrical solutions incorporating NEC, NFPA and PSM standards in electrical power / distribution, boilers, cooling systems • Design controls electrical panels. • Utilize and develops network of internal and external contacts appropriate to the job
1. Independently performs and implements controls-related project or manufacturing support tasks, which have a direct impact on company profitability. Ability to develop innovative design solutions to complex problems. 2. Successfully executes multiple project or manufacturing support tasks in a cGMP environment; and understands regulatory and quality assurance requirements/impact. 3. Proficient programmer in one or more areas of automation programming languages and platforms. Preferred automation systems (shown in order of preference) include Allen-Bradley (Factory Talk platforms, ControlLogix, Panelview, PLC-5, SLC), Siemens (PCS7, WinCC), Modicon Unity, GE iFix and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). 4. Understands and applies electrical power and distribution systems, NEC, NFPA 70E, and PSM regulation/standards. 5. Modify and author site utilities automation strategy to ensure long term strategic alignment with objectives are met. 6. Foster a culture of continuous improvement through employee selection, training and mentoring while focusing on operational efficiency and the elimination of “non-value added” activities. 7. Assists the department in developing policies, programs, SOPs, and Quality and Engineering standards to meet current industry, corporate Quality, and external Regulatory requirements. 8. Complies with requirements from the Safety Program, including Health and Safety mandates and OSHA requirements. 10. Completes any other duties/responsibilities assigned by senior management.
BS Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. In lieu of an Engineering Degree experience in the industrial utilities with extensive controls and automation experience may be considered. Minimum five years’ experience working with control systems, Allen Bradley PLC and system controls networking in an industrial environment. Must have an understanding of facility utility systems. A minimum of five years executing projects from conception through qualification in technical areas for industrial operations in the pharmaceutical, food or chemical industry is preferred.
